Out Now! Optiv & BTK ft. MC Fokus - Blindstruck

Following on from their massive Hardware debut track Inception, we welcome back to the ranks the destructive pairing of Optiv & BTK for their own single release - Blindstruck, teaming up with the vocal presence of Hardware affiliated MC Fokus an explosive concoction is delivered.

The lead track Blindstruck gets straight to the point. A pure, no nonsense bassline roll out. Keeping the elements sparse and concise to allow a thick sub bass to emerge and evolve, underpinned by a stepping minimal groove. A track with real cross over credentials easily finding favour in a diverse selection of DJ's sets already from Marky and Break through to Raiden and Vicious Circle.

For the 2nd track we journey into slightly darker territory with Scientist. Initiated with distinct and ominous old skool pads, which set the mood. The vibe is quickly updated with cut up vox provided by Fokus, which develops the track further in preparation for the drop, which unleashes contorting tech reeces, and razor sharp, chiselled drums. Another killer but with a darker edge.

With a music career which has spanned over 20 years Ink is a name that has become synonymous not only with Renegade Hardware, but Drum & Bass as a whole. Having established himself as one of the driving forces not only at the forefront of the label but behind the scenes also; developing album concepts A&Ring releases and not to mention a seminal dj career headlining the Renegade Hardware club events across the globe. And so the journey continues and brings us up to date. The result of 3 years hard work. The Last Scroll album is a testament to Ink’s ongoing evolution as an artist.

The album concept comprises of no less than 20 tracks and 2 distinct elements: The Papyrus and The Palette. The Papyrus focuses on the harder edged dancefloor side of Inks productions. In February not only do we find ourselves moving into our 2nd year at Area, but we also celebrate entering our 16th anniversary. That's right, Renegade Hardware is 16 years young! Building on the firm foundation which has already been set, to mark this special occasion we have compiled a killer line up of the finest dancefloor minded dj' to rip down Area and show you how things should be done. Full on ferocity is the order of the day, pure beats and bass for the heads that know. In total 28 dj's and mc's spread across 2 rooms of dnb. Not for the feint hearted! You have been warned!

Its finally here! We are proud to announce the release of our 14th full length album, 'The Last of a Dying Breed'. Sonically one of our most diverse and exciting album projects to date, the release demonstrates without question why Hardware has remained one of the most pioneering drum and bass labels for over 15 years.

In total, the release features 13 new tracks from established names such as Raiden, Ink, Loxy, Vicious Circle, Optiv & Phobia, combined with the talents of new skool leaders such as Rockwell, S.P.Y, BTK & Meth and Octane & DLR. Hardware Hits Sun and Bass

Ever since it began in 2004, Sun and Bass has been going from from strength-to-strength and is now a well-established highlight in the drum and bass calendar. Located on the stunning Italian island of Sardinia, the week long event features a plethora of dnb's finest.

This year, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting a night at the festival. On the 9th of September, you can look forward to catching Ink, Loxy, Raiden, Rockwell and Cold Fusion all representing Hardware.

Kicking off proceedings is the title track, 'Aquarius' by Raiden. Huge, epic pads combine with razor-sharp breaks and seriously heavy bass to create a truly spine-chilling track. 'Aquarius' captures the pure, unadulterated sound of Hardware.

B) NC-17 - ATTITUDE ERA
Backing up the A-side we welcome NC-17 to the fold with their Hardware debut. The duo cut show you what they're made of with an all out, bass driven roller in the form of 'Attitude Era'. The subs on this track pound and grind the listener into submission. Taking no prisoners, this is a savage bass bin work out!

C) LOXY & RESOUND - PSYCHOLOGY MOVES
Opening up disc two, Hardware resident Loxy teams up with Finland’s Resound with 'Psychology Moves'. Showcasing yet another hue in his already diverse audio palette, Loxy brings a tribal roll out; straight up menacing & militant.

D) BTK - NOT GOING BACK
Finishing off the release in fine style we announce yet another Hardware debut, this time from Brazil’s BTK. 'Not Going Back' is a hectic barrage of tech beats, laced with haunting vocals and thunderous bass that will the leave the crowd punch drunk at any club in which its played.

'La Luna' takes pole position on the A-side. Robotic vocoder malfunction and a distinctive, crisp drum march help build ever-increasing tension while scattered percussion melts effortlessly into the groove. As we reach the summit the breaks are eclipsed by a convulsion inducing bassline! A track that has been a key highlight in Raiden's DJ sets over the last year, as well as finding itself at home in a wide selection of DJ’s collections.

Creating some high energy physics on the flip, Raiden switches styles with a tense, aggressive tech roller in the form of the much anticipated 'LHC'. Driving, unrelenting drums collide with concrete hard bass that pins you to the floor before Raiden sprays acidic synth’s into the mix that are capable of melting faces... screwface imminent!

Ink and Perpetuum Team Up

One of the original soldiers, Ink returns to Hardware after recently releasing his critically acclaimed Hard Soul LP. Here we see him teaming up once again with Canada’s Perpetuum for some sonic savagery.

A) INK & PERPETUUM - JUNGLE BOOK
Setting the tone on side A, haunting, sparse pads swirl around a minimal step break which is suddenly punctured out of nowhere by deep 808 booms and a twisted, gut-wrenching bass growl. Old skool stabs and conga-funk grooves pepper the track with echoes of the Horsemen sound as each chapter of 'Jungle Book' unfolds.

AA) INK - MIRAGE (RAIDEN & KHANAGE REMIX)
For track 2, we see Ink’s techno-fuelled classic 'Mirage' get a 2009 update by one of the only producers in the scene able to do the track justice, Raiden. Teaming up with Khanage, the duo deliver a remix which still maintains the flow and vibe of the original, while twisting it up just enough to give the track a distinct sense of urgency and a more rugged dancefloor sound. For the fans of the original, this won’t disappoint!

'Frozen' is a trip down into the abyss. Stripped back to the raw elements, cavernously deep subs weave and entwine themselves around swaggering drums and ever-evolving percussion. Atmospheric and hypnotic; deep and minimal; a perfect example of complex simplicity.

AA) ICICLE - COLD REVENGE
On the B-side, Icicle really switches the vibe with 'Cold Revenge'. A stepping, conga-funk break kicks things off and carries the listener swiftly to the breakdown where a peculiar lead synth grabs your attention and is quickly underpinned by a gyrating, bass bounce. Funky and accessible, yet still retaining the Hardware edge. Prick us, do we not bleed? Wrong us, shall we not avenge..?
